Hola Regal Fam,
What to expect in this week’s Regal Revolution:
Future Design and The Seventh Generation
A Mantra on Surrender

There is still 24 hours left to vote for the Forbes contest.
This weekend, I had the opportunity to surrender with grace fueled by trust. Winter invites us into the darkness—devoid of distraction—so we can reconnect with our inner landscape.
It’s in this space that we borrow from the future via our imagination and plant the seed into the now. Any “doing” at this time is merely an illusion if we haven’t first tended to our inner garden.
When we look at history, everything we take for granted today was once deemed impossible.
And here we are, standing on this pale blue dot, navigating its shifts as a technologically advanced civilization.
As we stand at this precipice—where AI challenges us to rethink everything from consciousness to intellectual property—a new collective story is emerging.
It’s an invitation into curiosity and imagination, one where innovation becomes soul-filling. Where every little action we take adds up and allows us to steward the world around us in spiritual time rather than transactional time.
This is where we ask ourselves: What do we want to leave behind? What do we want to create more of? What is most alive in us?
Future Design and the Seventh Generation
Enter the work of Tatsuyoshi Saijo, a Japanese economist whose approach to policymaking, called Future Design, invites us to think seven generations ahead.
In 2015, a small town hall in Yahaba, Japan, gathered 20 citizens to debate local policy. But half of the group had an extraordinary task: to represent the voices of unborn citizens of 2060.
Wearing ceremonial robes, these “future designers” spoke for generations yet to come.
The results were striking. While participants representing the present favored policies with immediate benefits, those representing the future pushed for long-term reforms—like ambitious climate policies and sustainable healthcare investments. They even convinced the town to raise water rates, an otherwise politically toxic move, because failing to maintain infrastructure would burden future generations.
Inspired by Native American governance principles like seventh-generation decision-making, Saijo’s work reminds us of what he calls “futurability”—the willingness to sacrifice short-term benefits for long-term impact.
The implications are profound. As we face global challenges like climate change and demographic shifts, Future Design offers a powerful framework for giving a voice to those who cannot yet speak for themselves.
For Saijo, the mission is also deeply personal. "I would like to be remembered as a good ancestor," he says, reflecting on his legacy. Given the growing influence of his work on policy decisions across Japan, it seems increasingly likely that future generations will remember him as exactly that.
The Future Design movement represents a radical reimagining of democratic decision-making, one that could help bridge the gap between short-term political thinking and long-term societal needs.
As communities worldwide face increasingly complex challenges that span generations, Saijo's work offers a promising path forward – one that gives voice to those who cannot yet speak for themselves.
“What we’re seeing is a radical reimagining of democratic decision-making, one that bridges short-term political thinking with long-term societal needs,” says Saijo.
It’s a question worth sitting with: What would it mean for each of us to be good ancestors?
DeepSeek: Planting Bigger Gardens
Speaking of bold ideas for the future, DeepSeek just reminded us of something timeless: true innovation thrives in open gardens, not behind walls.
Here’s the gist of the DeepSeek news story making waves today:
The DeepSeek earthquake isn’t just about better AI—it’s about collaboration. It’s about building tools and systems that foster connections, not just performance.
A friend of mine and ally of the RR network said it best:
“Innovation doesn’t thrive behind walls. It explodes in gardens without fences.”
The real game isn’t just about creating tools; it’s about making them intuitive, accessible, and indispensable. It’s about fostering habits, solving meaningful problems, and making systems that people can’t imagine living without.
This is the future: not higher walls, but bigger gardens.

Mantra on Surrender
I want to share and explore the meaning of one of the most profound mantras on Surrender — the Sanskrit mantra Aham Brahmasmi (अहं ब्रह्मास्मि) meaning “I am the infinite reality.”
To understand its deeper significance as a mantra of surrender, let's break it down:
"Aham" means "I am" - representing our individual consciousness and sense of self "Brahman" refers to the ultimate reality or universal consciousness "Asmi" is the verb "to be"
When we chant this mantra, we're not making a statement of ego, but rather surrendering our limited individual identity to merge with the infinite. It's about letting go of our small self to recognize our connection to something vastly larger.
Here’s how to practice:
Find a quiet space and sit in stillness.
Breathe in and chant “Aham.”
Breathe out and chant “Brahmasmi.”
Let the mantra remind you that surrender is not about control but about trust and expanded awareness.
Try this practice whenever you feel resistance this week, and let it open you to a greater wisdom.
